ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — It’s time to shop. A winter storm is coming, and officials are urging people to prepare now — just in case. Make sure you have propane, kerosene, candles, food, water, medications, etc.
According to the National Weather Service, bitterly cold wind chills of 5 to 10 below zero will be possible late Wednesday night into Thursday morning in elevations above 3,500 feet.
But the bigger concern may be the area of low pressure moving along the Gulf Coast that will bring wintry weather to at least part of Western North Carolina on Friday and Friday night.
There is still uncertainty regarding specific precipitation types and amounts, but significant accumulations are possible, the National Weather Service said.
