ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Authorities are searching for an Asheville man last seen at an apartment in West Asheville on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025.
A friend said Kevin Collinsworth, 33, works at Cornerstone Control Solutions and was last known to be at his boss’ house in Canterbury Heights.
He was leaving that apartment to go to another friend’s house, a Facebook post by his mom Lisa Fernandez Collinsworth said.
“We do not know who he was going to meet. His phone is off. We can’t get in touch with him, and we don’t know of his whereabouts,” his mother’s Facebook post said.
Kayla, who has been close friends with Collinsworth for about 15 years, said that’s unusual for the father of two.
“His phone is off, his car is not anywhere, he hasn’t turned in his hours to get paid for last week, he hasn’t shown up to work in three days now. He hasn’t ever went this long without talking to his girls. He’s not at his apartment, and all of his stuff is there down to his tooth brush, his clothes, shoes and bags. This is just very strange for him,” Kayla said.
According to his mother’s Facebook post, police went to Collinsworth’s apartment at The Aventine Asheville to do a welfare check.
“All his personal belongings are there, from his toothbrush, deodorant, clothing, shoes and any bags he uses to travel with, are all there. He hasn’t been at his apartment since at least Saturday,” his mom said in her social media post.
A missing persons report has been filed.
“We are worried he has wrecked with the roads how they were Saturday night,” Kayla said. “He is from Hickory, so he doesn’t know the area that well here. Something is telling me he’s wrecked somewhere and needs our help.”
Collinsworth drives a gold 2007 Honda Civic with a North Carolina tag JKT1594.
Anyone with information about Collinsworth or his whereabouts is asked to call Jason Collinsworth at 704-677-0943, Asheville police at 828-252-1110 or the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office at 828-250-4503.
