SWANNANOA, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Crews responded to a fire in the Swannanoa area about 3 p.m. Monday.
According to the North Carolina Wildfire Map, the fire was about 3 acres and 0 percent contained about 3:18 p.m. By 5 p.m., the fire had grown to 15 acres and was 50 percent contained. It was burning north of Bee Tree Road near Long Branch Road.
Several fire trucks and an ambulance have responded, according to social media posts.
The Riceville Volunteer Fire Department said the fire was being managed by the Swannanoa Fire Department Incident Command and crews from several Buncombe County fire departments are were also on scene with the NC Division of Forestry. Air Operations are also taking place as they use the bucket to drop water.
