HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The Friends of Downtown Hendersonville and the city of Hendersonville invite the community to celebrate two events Saturday, May 3.

The day will kick off with the opening of the Hendersonville Farmers Market, followed by the 7th Avenue Street Fest, marking the grand reopening of the newly revitalized 7th Avenue District.

Hendersonville Farmers Market Opening Day:  8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Maple Street at the Historic Train Depot

The Hendersonville Farmers Market returns Saturday with more than 45 local vendors offering fresh produce, baked goods, handmade crafts and more. Many vendors will stay beyond regular market hours to participate in the Street Fest.

The market will feature live music by Jacob Dunham and a Kids’ Corner sponsored by Mini Batch Bakery.

SNAP/EBT Double Dollars Program

The market accepts SNAP/EBT payments and matches purchases dollar-for-dollar through the Double Up Food Bucks program. Shoppers can swipe their EBT cards at the information booth to receive tokens for eligible goods. The program is supported by local sponsors and a Double Up NC Grant from the Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project.

Market details:

  • Open every Saturday from May through October
  • 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Historic Train Depot on Maple Street
  • Well-behaved dogs are welcome
  • Cyclists are asked to dismount while walking through the market
  • Parking is available along Boxcar Street and at the Courthouse on 4th Avenue East. Note: No parking will be available on 7th Avenue between Grove and Maple streets during the Street Fest.

7th Avenue Street Fest: Grand Opening Celebration: Noon to 5 p.m., 7th Avenue District

Following the Farmers Market, the 7th Avenue Street Fest will celebrate the grand reopening of the district with live music, local vendors, food, family activities and community festivities. The event is free and open to the public.

Street Fest schedule:

  • Noon: Live music by Radical Joy with Mary Kay Williams and Reggie Headen
  • 2 p.m.: Community ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the revitalization of 7th Avenue
  • 2:30 p.m.: ArtScape banner reveal at Hendersonville Rescue Mission
  • 3 to 5 p.m.: Live music continues with The Stipe Brothers

The Street Fest marks the completion of a $4.2 million streetscape project that included major utility upgrades, transforming the historic district into a pedestrian-friendly destination.
