ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — It’s kitten season, and Asheville Humane Society has three 20-day-old kittens (Eddy, Portage and Hydraulic) that will be ready for their forever homes in about five weeks.

Along with forever homes, many of the neonatal kittens at the nonprofit also need foster homes.

“We’ve got a foster team that will teach you what you need to know, we can teach you how to do everything and we will provide you with everything you need to do it,” they said.

If you happen upon a litter of kittens, it’s natural to want to scoop them up and take them to safety. But, before you do anything, make sure mom is not around. The best thing for them is to stay with mom — human intervention is not typically required.

The neonatal kittens that do come into Asheville Humane Society require extensive care. And the nonprofit also needs help stocking the shelter so the kittens can be provided with everything they need.

The agency has wishlists for lifesaving supplies for foster babies.
