ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Community members will have the opportunity Tuesday night, May 13, to directly engage with HCA officials regarding operations at Mission Hospital and share their concerns with representatives from the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services, the N.C. Attorney General’s Office and Dogwood Health Trust.
Reclaim Healthcare WNC urged area residents to attend the meeting and submit comments. Community members can also share their feedback with the independent monitor in advance by registering for the meeting on Dogwood’s website.
“Dogwood’s job is to monitor HCA’s compliance with the Asset Purchase Agreement, and Dogwood’s new independent monitor found HCA to be out of compliance with its commitments last year,” Reclaim Healthcare WNC Board Chair Julie Mayfield said in a news release. “We are encouraged by the IM’s approach and look forward to their new report this summer. We know that quality of care at Mission continues to be a hot button issue in our community, and it’s critical that community members attend and share their concerns directly to the IM, the Attorney General’s staff, DHHS and HCA.”
According to the meeting announcement, representatives from HCA Mission Health System, the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services and the N.C. Attorney General’s Office will attend the meeting. Following a presentation by the Independent Monitor, representatives from each organization will be available at breakout tables to connect directly with attendees. Participants will also be able to submit questions or comments to be shared with the IM or other agencies for follow-up.
