Kathy Tecklenburg Dixon, 68, of Asheville, N.C., passed away on May 10, 2024.

She was born on July 31, 1955, in Troy, Ohio, to Norbert Tecklenburg and Dottie Groff Tecklenburg, who preceded her in death in 2016 and 2004, respectively.

Kathy earned a Bachelor’s Degree from The Ohio State University and Master’s Degrees from Wright State University and the University of Dayton. Her professional career included roles at Overfield Early Childhood Program, Miami County Educational Service Center, First Presbyterian Church of Asheville Child Care Center, RHA Health Services and The Biltmore Gift Shop.

Kathy was actively involved in numerous volunteer and civic organizations. In 1990, she received the Shirley Culp Davies Memorial Young Woman of the Year award. She was a joyous and integral part of her church communities, being a dedicated member of First Presbyterian Church of Troy, Ohio, and later at First Presbyterian Church of Asheville, North Carolina.

Kathy is survived by her children: Teckla Dixon Patterson (Tim) of Knoxville, Tennessee, and McGregor Dixon (Joni) of Cincinnati, Ohio; her siblings: Matt Tecklenburg (Lindsay) of Linden, Michigan, Mike Tecklenburg (Sharon) of Tipp City, Ohio, and Tom Tecklenburg (Tammy) of New Preston, Connecticut; and her granddaughter Caroline Patterson of Knoxville, Tennessee. She is also survived by several nephews and nieces.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Montreat Fund at Montreat Conference Center or The Overfield School Annual Fund. The family will hold a private service at a later date.

Kathy’s legacy of love, dedication, and service will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her. Her radiant spirit and kind heart left an indelible mark on her family, friends, and the many communities she so faithfully served.
