ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The North Carolina Arboretum is celebrating its second annual Founder’s Day on Wednesday, July 2, with free parking and a full day of events commemorating the institution’s founding in 1986.
The celebration is free and open to the public, with festivities taking place throughout the arboretum grounds.
Highlights include docent-led discussions in the Bonsai Exhibition Garden from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., a Garden History Tour at 11 a.m. (sign-up available in the Baker Lobby) and live music from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Bent Creek Bistro Courtyard.
Afternoon and evening activities include beverage service at the Gardener Shed from noon to 8 p.m., the popular Rocky Cove Railroad display from noon to 4 p.m., and a variety of food trucks from 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The evening will conclude with the Arbor Evenings concert series from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
