ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — ALDI will reopen its East Asheville store this week, nearly a year after Tropical Storm Helene forced the location to close because of storm damage.
The store at 480 Swannanoa River Road will welcome back shoppers on Thursday, July 10, with a grand reopening celebration beginning at 8:45 a.m. As part of the event, ALDI will present a $10,000 donation to MANNA FoodBank to support ongoing hurricane recovery and food insecurity efforts in the region.
The first 100 customers through the doors will receive an ALDI gift bag filled with exclusive products and a gift card as part of the retailer’s “Golden Ticket” giveaway. Shoppers will also be able to enter a sweepstakes to win a $500 ALDI gift card through the reopening weekend. Complimentary breakfast pastries, coffee and other refreshments will be available.
“At ALDI, we take pride in supporting our local communities, especially in times of need,” ALDI regional vice president JR Perry said in a news release “As we restored the East Asheville store, it was just as important for us to continue to stand with Asheville through local disaster relief efforts. We’re proud to reopen our doors and offer our customers the same quality groceries they count on at the lowest possible prices.”
Following the storm, ALDI donated $1 million to the American Red Cross and provided disaster relief boxes in partnership with Feeding America. While the East Asheville store was closed for repairs, ALDI’s location on Patton Avenue remained open to serve area residents.
The rebuilt East Asheville store will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Shoppers can expect a selection of fresh produce, organic meats, sustainable seafood and ALDI-exclusive products. The store also offers curbside pickup and grocery delivery.
