ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — A UNC Asheville student is seeking input from Western North Carolina residents as part of a new research project aimed at understanding public attitudes toward pollinators and their conservation.
Atticus Brooks, a McCullough Fellow at UNCA, has launched an online survey as part of a study examining regional perspectives on pollinator conservation. The survey is open to anyone 18 or older who lives in Western North Carolina.
Pollinators — including bees, butterflies and other insects — play a vital role in maintaining ecosystems and supporting food production, yet many people remain unaware of the threats they face because of habitat loss, pesticides and climate change.
The survey, which takes about 5 to 10 minutes to complete, asks participants about their views on pollinators and their importance to the environment. The results will help researchers gain insights into local awareness and support for pollinator protection efforts.
Participation is voluntary, and responses will be kept confidential in accordance with UNCA’s Institutional Review Board standards. No identifying information will be published.
