ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont is scheduled to speak in downtown Asheville on Sunday, Aug. 10, as part of his nationwide “Fighting Oligarchy: Where We Go From Here” tour.
The event will be held at the Thomas Wolfe Auditorium inside Harrah’s Cherokee Center — Asheville at 87 Haywood St. Doors open at 3:30 p.m., with a musical performance by indie-pop duo Sylvan Esso set for 5 p.m. The speaking program begins at 6 p.m.

Venue organizers have listed several prohibited items, including signs, flags, weapons of any kind — including for those with open carry permits — hard water bottles, chairs and large bags. Only small bags such as fanny packs will be allowed, with exceptions made for medical needs. ADA seating will be available on site.
Parking is available at the adjacent Harrah’s Cherokee Center garage.
