ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) —

Asheville police are looking for a suspect in three similar business break-ins over the weekend, when somebody shattered door glass to get inside and look for cash and valuables.

According to the Asheville Police Department, the break-ins included:

* 2:52 a.m. on May 25, when a side glass door was broken at a sandwich shop on Julian Lane. A safe was open and a cash register was tampered with.

* 2:59 a.m. on May 25, when a suspect broke the front glass door of an oil change business in the 50 block of Airport Road, entered and took paper money from the cash drawer, leaving only change behind before fleeing.

* 2:51 a.m. on May 26, when somebody used a cinder block to break through the front glass door of a jewelry store in the 1800 block of Hendersonville Road. A business alarm alerted police and although somebody made entry into the building, nothing appeared to have been taken.

“There’s no apparent commonality to the type of business” targeted, Asheville Police Department spokesperson Rick Rice said.

In all three cases, the suspect used force to gain entry, and based on surveillance footage detectives believe the suspect could be the same person, police said in a release.

“He is described as a tall male wearing a hooded sweatshirt, mask and white gloves,” the release stated.

Asheville Police are asking anyone with information about the incidents to contact APD at (828) 252-1110, or send an anonymous tip using the TIP2APD smartphone app. Or people can text TIP2APD to 847411.
