ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) —

A 22-year-old Asheville man has pleaded guilty to two felony drug trafficking charges related to a cache of fentanyl and other substances found in his homes in December, the Buncombe County District Attorney’s Office reported.

On Wednesday, May 29, Tyrece Davon Thompson, 22, pleaded guilty to two counts of trafficking opium/heroin, and Buncombe County Superior Court Judge Steve Warren sentenced him to serve 90 to 120 months with the Department of Adult Corrections and pay a $100,000 fine, the DA’s office said in a press release.

According to the release, the case goes back to late 2023, when the Asheville Police Department investigated information about alleged drug sales and obtained search warrants for two residences Thompson maintained.

“The search yielded approximately 80 grams of fentanyl together with a cache of marijuana, psilocybin extract and Delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol extract,” the release states.
