ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) —

Nobody was injured, but two occupied homes were struck by gunfire early Tuesday morning in Asheville, police said, in the latest in a spate of similar cases in the city.

At least three cases of bullets being fired into occupied homes were reported in one week in late May.

The latest case was reported around 1:24 a.m. on Tuesday, June 11, near the intersection of Livingston Street and Hibernia Street, when officers investigated a report of gunshots, the Asheville Police Department reported in a release.

No suspects were on the scene when police arrived, but officers canvassed the area and found two shell casings and exterior damage to two homes, the release stated. There was interior damage at one of the homes, it added.

Three similar cases were reported over a four-day period in late May, with only property damage and no injuries reported:

* About 11:39 p.m. on May 23, an occupied residence in the 950 block of W. Chapel Road was struck by gunfire and 23 shell casings from different caliber guns were found.

* About 12:43 a.m. on May 25, two homes and two vehicles in the 300 block of Brooklyn Road were struck by gunfire and 46 shell casings were found.

* About 1:04 a.m. on May 26, the occupied residence on Hibernia Street was struck and 17 shell casings were found.

* Now, around 1:24 a.m. on Tuesday, June 11, two homes were struck near the intersection of Livingston Street and Hibernia Street and two casings were found.
