WEAVERVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — North Buncombe High School has placed on the 2026 Advanced Placement School Honor Roll, a distinction earned based on the achievement of students in AP classes.
AP Honor Roll placement is calculated based on the previous year’s graduating class.
The criteria to qualify includes:
- College Culture: 40% or more of the graduating class took at least one AP Exam during high school
- College Credit: 25% or more of the graduating class scored a three or higher on at least one AP Exam during high school
- College Optimization: 2% or more of the graduating class took five or more AP Exams during high school, with at least one exam taken in 9th or 10th grade, so that students have spread their AP experience across their high school career
“Being named to the AP Honor Roll is a tremendous accomplishment for our school community,” said Kevin Yontz, principal of North Buncombe High School. “It speaks to the commitment our students have to challenging themselves, the passion our teachers bring to the classroom each day and the strong support from our families. This recognition isn’t just about achievement — it’s about opportunity, and we’re proud to create pathways that prepare every student for success beyond graduation.”
