ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — June is one of the busiest stretches of the summer for Asheville City Soccer Club, with a calendar that brings together competitive soccer, community connection and conversations about wellness.
Between important USL League Two and USL W League home matches, a community-focused mental health event and a sponsor showcase hosted in partnership with HF Center of Exercise Science, the club’s calendar reflects a mission that reaches beyond matchday.
“At Asheville City, we’re committed to creating experiences that extend beyond the ninety minutes on the field,” said Dr. Mathes Mennell, ACSC COO of sporting and club operations. “June gives us an opportunity to bring together soccer, wellness, and community in meaningful ways.”
Home Matches Light Up Greenwood Field
As the club’s USL League Two and USL W League teams move through the heart of their seasons, every home match takes on added importance.
For supporters, Greenwood Field remains one of the most energetic soccer environments in the region. The matchday experience combines high-level competition with a family-friendly atmosphere, local food vendors, the Blues Lounge and the supporter culture that gives Asheville City SC its summer rhythm.
The women’s team hosts Swarm FC on June 13, Chattanooga Red Wolves SC on June 20 for Pride Game and Birmingham Legion WFC on June 28. The men’s team hosts Appalachian FC on June 13, Charlotte Eagles on June 26 and Charlotte Independence 2 on June 29.
Each match gives fans a chance to support the club’s playoff push while celebrating the local supporters, sponsors and community partners who help bring Greenwood Field to life.
Prioritizing Mental Health Beyond the Pitch

On Thursday, June 18, Asheville City SC will host a mental health event featuring Dr. Kim Quigley, founder and CEO of Onrise. The event will be held at UNC Asheville’s Mountain View Room and is hosted in partnership with Onrise and HF Center of Exercise Science. Registration is required and limited to 90 participants with registration available here.
The conversation will focus on topics that affect athletes, coaches, students, professionals and families alike, including performance, resilience, stress management and overall well-being.
The event also reflects Asheville City SC’s commitment to holistic wellness and player development. By opening the conversation to supporters and community members, the club is creating space for a broader discussion about the role mental health plays in both sport and everyday life.
“Strong communities are built when we invest not only in physical performance, but also in mental wellness,” Mennell said. “We’re excited to bring Dr. Quigley’s expertise to Asheville.”
Connecting the Asheville Community Through Sport

On Saturday, June 27, Asheville City SC will continue its June programming with an open community event hosted in partnership with HF Center of Exercise Science.
The event is designed as a celebration of the people and organizations that make Asheville City SC possible. Sponsors, community partners, supporters, players, coaches, trainers and staff will have an opportunity to connect through networking, collaboration and family-friendly activities.
HF Center of Exercise Science serves as a key partner in supporting athlete health, recovery and performance. The event also highlights the way sport can serve as a platform for broader community engagement, bringing together local businesses, nonprofits, student-athletes and supporters in one shared space.
“This event is about bringing together the incredible network that surrounds Asheville City Soccer Club,” Mennell said. “We want our supporters, sponsors, athletes, and community leaders to connect, collaborate, and celebrate together.”
More Than a Soccer Club
June’s schedule reflects the broader role Asheville City SC continues to play in the community.
The club is competing at a high level on the field, investing in player wellness off it and creating meaningful experiences for supporters throughout Asheville.
From the energy of Greenwood Field to conversations about mental health and community connection, Asheville City SC’s June lineup shows how the club is building something larger than a season schedule.
