ARDEN, N.C. (828newsNOW) –A Sheetz convenience store is proposed for Long Shoals Road in Arden, and city staff is reviewing the plans for a 6,139-square-foot store on a nearly 6-acre site.

The development application, accepted by Asheville city staff Sept. 8, calls for construction of the Sheetz on about 5.9 acres at 35 Long Shoals Road.

The wooded property has two single-family homes. The project includes demolition, along with clearing, grading, stormwater improvements and relocation of a gravity sanitary sewer line.

Plans also call for off-site roadway improvements.

The project would have two driveways, a shared access drive with a proposed traffic signal and a separate right-in, right-out driveway.

Water service would be provided by the City of Asheville, while sanitary sewer service would come from the Metropolitan Sewerage District.

The property is within Asheville’s corporate limits and the city’s zoning jurisdiction, although it has an Arden address.

City staff is reviewing the application for compliance with local, state and federal standards. The application does not list a construction schedule or anticipated opening date.

Property records list the owners as Billdar Properties LLC and B and C Long Shoals of Asheville.
