ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — An investigation is underway after police say a man was struck and killed by a vehicle on Sweeten Creek Road.
A release from the Asheville Police Department says officers responded to the scene of a collision near the 4000 block of Sweeten Creek Road just before 10 p.m. on Aug. 8.
APD’s preliminary investigation indicates a pedestrian, 76-year-old Joel Wayne Tucker, was trying to cross the road when he was struck by a vehicle traveling south on Sweeten Creek Road. A spokesperson for APD tells 828newsNOW via email, “the driver remained on the scene and was cooperative and there are currently no charges.”
Tucker was transported to Mission Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on Aug. 9.
