The spookiest month of the year has arrived. October is here, and with it, whole new batches of Halloween props, costumes and animatronics, in addition to several pumpkin patches transported into town.
The Plant Bar block party will feature three different live music stages, food trucks, giveaways and tarot card readings, as well as the dispensary’s signature coffee, tea and zero-proof cocktails.
The milestone event, cohosted with the Black Mountain-Swannanoa Chamber of Commerce, will be marked with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, refreshments and campground tours. The celebration will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 4, at Asheville East KOA Holiday, 2708 US-70, Swannanoa.
The Emergency Preparedness Workshop will begin at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 8 at the Stephens-Lee Community Center, 30 George Washington Carver Ave.
The Out of the Silence walk and accompanying event will be held from 4:30-6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 30 in the R.L. Dalton Stadium at A.C. Reynolds High.
The Venardos Circus, a Broadway-style, animal-free classic circus showcase, will return to Asheville for a three week residency outside the Tanger Outlets. A big top tent will house the production from Thursday, Oct. 2 to Sunday, Oct. 19 at 800 Brevard Road.
