ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Asheville police and fire officials are investigating a fire that tore through a Goodwill warehouse and nearby tractor-trailers on Patton Avenue early Monday morning.
Firefighters with the Asheville Fire Department responded to the 1600 block of Patton Avenue around 6:32 a.m. on July 7. Upon arrival, they found the building fully engulfed in flames. Several adjacent tractor-trailers, which were also used to store donated items, were also on fire.
The blaze required mutual aid assistance after crews encountered limited water supply from nearby hydrants. According to West Buncombe Assistant Fire Chief Jared Gudger, tankers ultimately shuttled more than 207,000 gallons of water to the scene.
Crews were able to contain the fire, and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
