ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828News.com) – One of downtown Asheville’s oldest buildings is getting ready for Christmas.

Grove Arcade announced in an Oct. 28 news release that its annual Holiday Tree Lighting Block Party will be held with a day full of events on Nov. 28.

The Grove Arcade was built in 1929 and is home to locally-owned shops, restaurants and businesses.

The traditional Block Party will begin at 10 a.m. with the Southern Highland Craft Guild Holiday Market inside Grove Arcade. According to the release, the market will offer hand-crafted gifts and artisan goods from local craft makers.

Beginning at 3 p.m., inside Grove Arcade and along Page Avenue there will be holiday events, including live performances by the Asheville Ballet, and festive music, including a set by Rock the Disco Sound System, featuring the Captains of Revelry, jazz from the Bill Bares Jazz Trio and holiday caroling by the Asheville Gay Men’s Chorus.

Guests and their children can have photos with Santa Claus. There will also be outdoor pop-up bars along Restaurant Row, and a family-friendly Letters to Santa crafting station, the release said.

The activities will be from 3-7 p.m. on Nov. 28. The event is free and open to the public.
