HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The Seventh Avenue Streetscape Project is moving to the next phase.

Sanitary sewer construction on Seventh Avenue between Barker and Ashe streets is ending, and the contractor is beginning to lay out the next phase of sewer work on Barker Street, according to the city’s website.

The CIPP lining contractor will be working on Seventh Avenue at night this week, and there will be temporary traffic control, city officials said. One sewer manhole will need to be replaced at the intersection of Seventh Avenue and Beech Street, which will also require temporary traffic control. The date for that work is to be determined.

The Seventh Avenue Streetscape Project is an investment in pedestrian, water, sewer and stormwater infrastructure, lighting and landscaping in the business district. It aims to improve walkability, improve connections to the Main Street Municipal Service District and highlight the character of the historic district.

Neighborhood progress:

  • Water mains have been constructed on East Pace Street between Ashe and Beech streets.
  • Sanitary sewer has been constructed on Jonas Street between Ashe and Beech streets.
  • The CIPP lining contractor will be working on Ashe Street and Cherry Street this. There will be temporary traffic control during this night work.
  • It is anticipated that Duke Energy will be replacing power poles on Cherry Street over the next few months.
  • Sidewalk construction is anticipated on Cherry, Beech and Jonas streets this spring into summer.
