ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Asheville Police Department officers arrested a man with multiple open warrants and drugs in his possession last weekend near downtown Asheville.

Officers approached Quevadus Asatea Bailey, 20, around 6:34 p.m. on Sunday, May 4 on Montford Avenue.

Bailey attempted to flee on foot from officers but was apprehended and taken into custody. During the arrest, Bailey was found to be in possession of fentanyl and crack cocaine and charged with intent to sell a controlled substance within 1000 feet of a school, Montford North Star Academy.

Bailey was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $75,000 secured bond.

APD seized:

  • 4.81 grams of crack cocaine
  • 0.98 grams of fentanyl

Bailey was charged with:

  • Possession with intent to sell or deliver a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school x2
  • Resist, delay, obstruct 
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

Bailey was also arrested on warrants for:

  • Breaking and entering with intent to terrorize
  • Going armed to the terror of the people
  • Misdemeanor crime of domestic violence
  • Injury to real property
  • Injury to personal property
