ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning Friday afternoon for parts of northeastern Henderson County and southeastern Buncombe County in western North Carolina.
The warning, issued at 3:04 p.m., is in effect until 4 p.m.
At 3:03 p.m., meteorologists detected a severe thunderstorm near Arden, approximately 10 miles north of Hendersonville, moving east at 15 mph.
The storm is capable of producing wind gusts up to 60 mph and quarter-size hail, according to radar data. The potential impacts include minor hail damage to vehicles and wind damage to trees and power lines.
Communities in the path of the storm include Arden, Fletcher, Asheville Regional Airport, Skyland, Gerton, Edneyville, Avery Creek, Fairview and Bat Cave.
