ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Asheville police arrested a man Wednesday afternoon after he fired multiple shots during a physical altercation outside a Patton Avenue motel, authorities said.

The incident occurred around 2:53 p.m. near the 1400 block of Patton Avenue, where Asheville Police Department detectives were investigating a narcotics complaint. Officers witnessed two men get into a fight when 32-year-old Ciano Damone Kimble produced a firearm and fired several rounds. Stray bullets struck an occupied motel room and a nearby vehicle, but no injuries were reported, Asheville police said.

Kimble attempted to flee on foot, discarding the gun, but officers quickly apprehended him and recovered the weapon. Subsequent search warrants on the motel room and vehicles led to the seizure of another firearm, 5.5 grams of fentanyl and 2 grams of crack cocaine.

Kimble faces multiple charges, including:

  • Assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill
  • Possession of a firearm by a felon
  • Discharging a firearm within city limits
  • Going armed to terrorize people
  • Carrying a concealed gun
  • Resisting a public officer

He was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $250,000 secured bond. Additional charges are expected as the investigation continues.
