ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) —
A strong thunderstorm prompted the National Weather Service to issue an alert Sunday night, advising some Western North Carolina to be prepared for strong winds to go along with the rain.
The storm was about 13 miles southeast of Marshall, or 10 miles north of Canton moving to the southeast about 7:20 p.m., the National Weather Service said.
Wind gusts of up to 40 mph could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects, officials said.
Locations expected to be impacted by the storm include Canton, Bent Creek, Clyde, Enka, Leicester, West Asheville, Candler and Canton.
