ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Following last week’s summer heat wave, Asheville is in for a stretch of showers and thunderstorms heading into this weekend, according to the National Weather Service station in Greenville-Spartanburg, South Carolina.

What will weather in Asheville be like this week?

The rainy forecast will begin with a chance of showers and thunderstorms around 2 p.m. today, Monday, July 6, with rainfall becoming more likely after 4 p.m. with a 90% chance of precipitation. New rainfall accumulation could land between a quarter and half of an inch.

On Tuesday, thunderstorms and showers are likely to land between 2-4 p.m. with a 60% chance of precipitation and a high temperature near 88 degrees. In the evening, there is a 30% chance of more rainfall, with a partly cloudy low of 67 degrees.

Heading into the mid-week, Wednesday and Thursday will stay hot, averaging 89 and 90 degree highs, with a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms both days. Those odds will creep upward to 40% by Friday, while the temperature will hold steady around 90 degrees.

Beginning on Saturday, a higher likelihood of thunderstorms returns, with a 60% probability from the day into the evening, followed by a 50% chance of storms on Sunday, which could be a little cooler with a high of 86 degrees.
