ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — If you were hoping for a white Christmas in Western North Carolina, you’re probably out of luck.

According to the National Weather Service, highs Tuesday and Wednesday are expected to be in the mid-50s. Lows Christmas Eve are expected to fall to the mid-20s.

Cold high pressure moving off the East Coast Monday night will bring temperatures near or a little above normal through the end of the week, the National Weather Service said.

Christmas holiday forecast, according to the National Weather Service:

Tonight: Clear with a low around 25. Southeast wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening.
Tuesday: Sunny with a high near 54. Light north-northwest wind increasing to 5 to 9 mph in the morning.
Tuesday night: Mostly clear with a low around 31. Calm wind.
Christmas Day: Mostly sunny with a high near 54. Calm wind becoming southeast around 5 mph in the afternoon.
Wednesday night: Mostly cloudy with a low around 32. Calm wind.
