ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Crews are set to begin repairing a one-lane section of N.C. 9 next week, according to a Facebook post from Broad River Fire and Rescue.
The highway will be closed 7 p.m.-7 a.m. from March 3-10 so crews can work with as little impact on motorists as possible.
“It is our understanding that everything from Crooked Creek and 1772 NC 9 north towards town will be accessed from that side. NC 9 at Lavender Ridge and 1919 NC 9 south will be from Old Fort Rd side,” the Facebook post said.
There are several ways around, depending on one’s destination.
Old Fort Road into McDowell around to Crooked Creek Road or Old Fort Road to Interstate 40. Another option is Chestnut Hill Road to Flat Creek Road and Morgan Hill Road, according to the Facebook post.
“As of now it is our understanding that Crooked Creek Rd will be accessible from the north side (Tree Haven) area. A lot of residents have been concerned with this section of road, so let’s do all we can to allow DOT and contractors to make it safe again,” the Facebook post said. “We will provide any updates as we receive them.”
