ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) Asheville Police Department officers arrested three men in their early twenties on gun and drug charges over the weekend in west Asheville.

Officers made contact with Damon Tyrique Smith Jr., 21, Samar Arkey Peake, 2o, and Daiquan Aijah Ray, 20, around 12:20 a.m., Saturday, April 19 near the 490 block of Haywood Road.

The three were found to be in possession of drugs and illegal firearms, including a Glock 19, possessed by Ray, which had been reported stolen.

All three men were taken into custody without incident. 

APD officers seized:

  • Glock 19, reported stolen
  • Glock 19x
  • .73 grams of fentanyl
  • 79.83 grams of marijuana

Smith Jr. was charged with:

  • Felony possession of Schedule II
  • Simple possession of Schedule VI
  • DWLR
  • Citation: Stop sign violation

Smith was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $5,000 secured bond.

Peake was charged with:

  • Carry concealed gun

Peake was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility and released under a Written Promise To Appear by a magistrate.

Ray was charged with:

  • Felony possession of stolen firearm
  • Carry concealed gun

Ray was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $25,000 secured bond.
