HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office is alerting drivers to upcoming nighttime closures on Interstate 26 eastbound between Exits 44 and 49 because of construction.

Closures are scheduled to begin Monday, April 28, and will continue nightly through Friday, May 2. Work will take place from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., although start times may vary depending on traffic flow.

Detour routes include:

  • For Exits 44–49: Exit at 44 onto Asheville Highway (U.S. 25 South), continue to U.S. 176, then Upward Road and reenter I-26 at Exit 53.
  • For Exits 40–49: Exit at 40 onto N.C. 280 East (Airport Road), then take U.S. 25 South (Hendersonville Road) to U.S. 176, Upward Road and back to I-26 at Exit 53.

Officials note that weather conditions may impact the schedule.

Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead, expect delays and prepare for detours.
