BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C. (828newsNOW) — A Black Mountain craft beverage distillery has ascended to the top of the malt whiskey mountaintop.
Oak & Grist Distilling Company, located at 1556 Grovestone Road, has won a Gold Medal for American Single Malt Whiskey at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, a prestigious competition which attracts entries from distilleries all around the world.
The 2025 competition was held from April 11 to 13 with the results revealed this month.
The Oak & Grist winner is their “Descendent” single malt whiskey.
“We are incredibly honored to receive this Gold Medal for our ‘Descendent’,” said William Goldberg, Co-Founder/Head Distiller of Oak & Grist in a press release. “It’s a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team and our passion for creating distinctive spirits that reflect the terroir of the Southern Appalachian mountains.”
