ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — An off-duty Asheville police officer has been arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including driving while impaired, according to the Asheville Police Department.
APD said Officer Beau Baley was arrested Feb. 7 by the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office and charged with driving while impaired, misdemeanor child abuse, public urination, resisting a public officer and reckless driving.
The department said Baley was immediately placed on administrative suspension, and an internal investigation has been launched. APD said no additional details will be released at this time to protect the integrity of the criminal and internal investigations.
“We take matters of this nature very seriously and hold every member of this department, on and off duty, to the highest standards of conduct,” Interim Police Chief Jackie Stepp said in a statement. “The actions alleged are unacceptable, run contrary to our mission to provide for a safe community and do not reflect the standards or values of this organization.”
