ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Former President Donald Trump plans to make a stop in Asheville on his campaign for another term in the White House.

An event on Trump’s campaign website shows the Republican candidate is expected to speak about the economy during his trip to Western North Carolina on Wednesday, Aug. 14. The event is set to take place at Harrah’s Cherokee Center – Asheville, located at 87 Haywood Street, starting at 4 p.m. The event website says doors will open at 1 p.m. No other details were available on the website.

Trump unleashed a barrage of attacks on his Democratic presidential candidate, Vice President Kamala Harris, during his July 24 rally in Charlotte, The Associated Press reported. The rally marked his first public appearance on the campaign trail since President Joe Biden announced he would no longer be seeking reelection.

There’s no word yet on if and when Harris will be making a campaign stop in Western North Carolina. The vice president and her new running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, postponed a planned stop in Raleigh as Tropical Storm Debby approached the area, according to WTVD. Republican vice presidential candidate Sen. JD Vance also postponed a trip to Raleigh due to the tropical storm.
